Just thanking you.
I fought these for 4+months after picking them up in a nursing home I was sleeping at with my husband. AWFUL!! Thanks to this sight and following your instructions I have been clear for over 2 mos. Thank you, what a lifesaver.
I would like to thank you too, very much, for your careful write-up, which I found EXTREMELY helpful in diagnosing, and getting appropriate treatment for, an infection I managed to contract this year, and which had me in utter agony for months. (Unfortunately, I had a lot of difficulty getting a doctor to just prescribe permethrin cream. I should have been a bit more aggressive about insisting upon it.) Thanks to your pages, though, I finally got my doctor to prescribe it, and treatment proceeded VERY much as you said it would.
I am not just over four weeks, and still not TOTALLY healed up, but the infection ran rampant for far too long, and so it is taking a bit longer for my skin to grow out and discard all the irritating matter . . . but the debilitating itch is history, and slowly, the remaining disfiguring spots are fading and scabbing and falling off.
Just reading and re-reading your encouraging words helped me through that helpless feeling, and gave me the courage to argue with the doctors until they gave me the treatment I needed.
It's still a bit of mystery, not so much how *I* contracted it, but how the person I got it from contracted it. He must have picked it up in the summer, in Hong Kong, just from casual contact with the public on public transportation. His own experience was NOT as severe as my own, but the doctor who treated HIM (in Hong Kong) said that different people may have reactions of different severity to the infection--and that it is sometimes transmitted by more casual skin-to-skin contact in summer in Asia.
Anyway, I just wished to let you know how HELPFUL to me your Web pages on this unpleasant subject were!
