What’s the chance of getting it?
Hello! I have an interesting situation and I was hoping for some feedback. Here we go!
My sister contracted Scabies recently and is going through the treatment. She also lives in a home with 4 other family members whom have not been treated. I do not live near them nor have I seen them in months. We have a family vacation planned in 2 weeks and my sister, father and her friend are coming. My father lives with my sister and has not been treated. My sister is also around her friend quite a bit and she hasn’t been treated either.
I am demanding everyone to be treated before coming on vacation but what are the chances of getting it if I have no skin to skin contact and avoid couches and other cloth objects that they’ve touched? My car has leather seats and my father was going to drive with me for 12+ hours but I’m afraid it may put me at risk.
There is always a chance you will get it. Although without skin to skin contact it's much less. There was a study that showed even sleeping in a bed after someone who had scabies slept in it had a remarkably low chance of transmission. Anyone living in her house should definitely treat though, imo.
